Normally it is observed that at the fag end of any racing season, the highly rated horses do not figure on the board. In your excellent wisdom, at the end of a season, do you have a different method to work out your DR of runners? I shall be obliged to hear from you please.

yes your observation is true. because shrewd trainers and connectoions always have plans and once the current season is coming to end they chalk up their target and plan for the next season.
A classic example is the running of two horses, ACT OF VALOUR and CHASE THE ACE from Sunderji yard.These two are just being given easy runs in spite of Good rating. something big is BREWING , either end of season surprise or a coup during Pune season. same way many trainers who plan must be doint it and that's for sure.

to your specific query, no there is no alternate method. its only one method. Also I always feel that apart form the TOP RATING lot of other factors are responsible for the outcome ,like Fitness, intention of the connections, luck of race etc. So expecting the TOp RATED horse to win always is also not logical. That is why its best to short list the TOp FOUR and then put in your thoughts. that way I feel the strike rate will be better.Because no amount of rating one works out prime importance is the "INTENTION" of the connection it ha sto be synchronized then all goes well also fitness issues and Luck of race are of prime importance.many a time we see a superior horse with good rating and right intention still loses tantalizingly due to poor ride etc. so in racing umpteen factors are there to deciede the outcome that one should keep in mind.
